One of the hardest things about participating in Wordless Wednesday, the times that I have, has been writing down only the source, and not writing down my thoughts about the image. Yesterday's was no exception.
Some of my favorite historical photographs are those taken that show an iconic image that no longer exists as it existed at the time of the photograph.
Such as The Sphinx supported by sandbags during WWII
or Mount Rushmore without Teddy Roosevelt.
That of course was the 'something missing'. However, I also treasure the captions that appear on the back of photographs, or underneath in photo albums. That was the 'something extra.'
